Welcome to the newest academic year.
How’s it going? This will certainly be another one for the books in my neck of the woods. Between managing students, adapting to new state legislation, and navigating the continued federal funding chaos I am feeling tired 😮💨, and we’re only getting started 😅.
One thing that keeps me going is the opportunity to talk to all of you each week through this blog. This is my chance to stop for a couple of minutes and check-in with my why and maybe provide a little inspiration to all of you. This past week I had a chance to chat with a newly minted post-doc fellow about designing a research program for their new position and left that call just giddy with all the possibilities they could explore. I mean I was fired up! (and I think they were too) I just LOVE talking about, brainstorming for, and trouble-shooting problems related research. Finding ways to get new data and information to help people live better lives is thrilling.
I felt like a quarterback calling the winning play in the Superbowl, or a maestro conducting Beethoven’s Ninth at the New York Philharmonic. I see all the pieces, how they are connected, and where I can move them to give the best chance at getting answers to our research questions. Of course, the technical term for this is flow, and it is AWESOME! This is one of my superpowers.
So, before we get too far into the academic year and you are feeling overwhelmed by all that you have on your plates, I wanted to share a few ways I can help you.
Research Project Services
1. Project jump start – Even great projects need a boost sometimes. Whether it’s recruitment, retention, or data collection, let me help you troubleshoot what’s happening and how we can fix it!
2. Manuscript to article – Writing can be tough, and when you’re stuck getting unstuck is tougher. But your data deserve to see the light of day! Let me be your extra eyeballs, and cheer leader, to get that paper over the finish line and published.
3. R&R Assistance – Reviewer comments standing between you and getting a publication? Don’t let them stop you, let me help wrangle reviewer #2 and get you published.
Research Program Development
Looking rework or redo your research program? In Research Program Development we start with a Discovery call where you tell me more about your research and the impact you want to have. This call also gives me a chance to ask you any follow-up questions to make sure I understand exactly what you want to do. In the Strategy call I present you with a drafted plan for how you can begin to make your research program vision a reality. We work through the plan together, you tell me where you want to adjust, and we make those adjustments real-time. You leave the Strategy call with a fully formulated plan including your next steps and resources to help ensure your success. Once you’re on the way with your plan we check in with Accountability calls. These calls are dedicated chances for you to see how things are going and for me to help brainstorm solutions to the inevitable stumbles your projects will have.
In Research Program Development you can sign up for one meeting at time or get the bundle, offering you the greatest flexibility.
Academic life doesn’t ever stop throwing curve balls. Whether it’s students being students, collaborators getting busy with their own work, or us evolving and needing to do and be someone new. Let me be your unbiased, unconnected, as needed team member. I am passionate about helping you achieve your research goals and committed to helping you make that happen.
